Overview
Persons in possession of the carcass or pelt of furbearing animals or upland game birds beyond 15 days after the close of the season require a Wildlife Storage Permit and Carcass Receipt.
Eligibility
Persons in possession of legally harvested or acquired carcasses or pelts of furbearing animals or upland game birds may be eligible for a permit. Please contact your local Department office for further information.
Eligibility requires a valid Fur Harvester’s, Hunting, Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator, Fur Trader, Hide Dealer, or Taxidermist licence.
Description
The most common use for Wildlife Storage Permit & Carcass Receipts is to hold furbearer pelts for later shipment to an auction or sale, or to hold furbearer pelts for later delivery to a licensed fur trader agent within the province for shipment to an auction or sale. A copy of the Wildlife Storage Permit must be enclosed with each shipment or given to the fur trader upon delivery.
Marten, bobcat and otter pelts delivered to a fur pickup location within New Brunswick must have the Carcass Receipt portion of the Wildlife Storage Permit completed. Carcasses of these species must be delivered by the fur harvester to the nearest Department office before this receipt will be issued.
