Overview

The Financial and Consumer Services Commission administers the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act on behalf of the Minister of Finance and Treasury Board, who is responsible for the appointment of individuals to act as commissioner of oaths. The Financial and Consumer Services Commission cannot provide a list of individuals appointed as a commissioner of oaths.

The Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act states that a commissioner can administer oaths and take and receive affidavits, declarations and affirmations within New Brunswick.

Eligibility

Applicants wishing to be appointed a commissioner of oaths under the Commissioners for Taking Affidavits Act must submit a completed application to the Financial and Consumer Services Commission. More information on the requirements to apply for a licence can be found here.

Description

Once you pass the exam, you will be issued a certificate of competency. This certificate must then be forwarded to the Financial and Consumer Services Commission. Learn more here.
