Government of New Brunswick

Overview

As a general rule, the NB Fish and Wildlife Act requires that non-residents must be accompanied by a licensed guide to hunt game species or to fish for Atlantic Salmon. A Guide I Licence may be issued to a person who intends to charge a fee or reward for their guiding service.

Eligibility

Must be 18 years of age or older and a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada). First-time applicants must successfully complete the guide exam at a Department office.

Description

A Guide I may guide up to 3 clients at one time but cannot hunt or fish while guiding. An exception and special rules apply to guides who wish to fish for a client. Special rules also apply to guides when accompanying clients who choose to fish from a boat. Please refer to the NB "Fish" and "Hunt/Trap" regulation summaries (see Related Links) for more details concerning rules that apply to guides. Guide Licences expire on December 31 each year.
