Overview
A conciliation officer is a neutral third party appointed by the Minister and who attempts to bring together the parties in an industrial dispute for reconciling their differences. The conciliation process is a pre-requisite to any strike or lockout.
Eligibility
Parties to a collective agreement under the jurisdiction of the Industrial Relations Act.
Description
The conciliation process provides an opportunity to the parties to an industrial dispute to resolve their differences with the assistance of a neutral third party, prior to strike or lockout action.
