FREDERICTON (GNB) – The following message was issued by Social Development Minister Dorothy Shephard in recognition of Special Care Home Week, Aug. 22-26:
Special care homes and their staff play a vital role in our efforts to provide care to the most vulnerable New Brunswickers. This week is an excellent time to reflect upon the work done daily by these long-term care professionals.
These facilities provide seniors and adults with disabilities with high-quality services and ensure they are treated with dignity and respect.
I am pleased to note that the Special Care Home Association plans to celebrate the week with a variety of events across the province. The recognition is well deserved.
On behalf of the provincial government, I thank the staff, facility operators, and owners at each of the special care homes for continuing to show an extraordinary level of dedication even as COVID-19 restrictions lifted in the long-term care network.
