VALLÉE-DES-RIVIÈRES (GNB) – Provincial, federal, and municipal officials announced funding today for three infrastructure projects in northern New Brunswick.

They are:

  •  Haut-Madawaska (Baker Brook area) – water reservoir refurbishment and well restoration
  •  Heron Bay (Dalhousie area) – Increase capacity to manage wastewater and storm water
  •  Vallée-des-Rivières (Saint-Léonard area) – additional improvements to the water system on Honoré-Roy Street

“Reliable infrastructure is key to building vibrant and sustainable communities,” said Réjean Savoie, minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “Investing in these three communities will help prepare the region for future growth.”

“Our communities deserve clean and potable water. That is why we are proud to support improvements to water infrastructures in New Brunswick communities,” said Madawaska-Restigouche MP René Arseneault. “This funding will allow these three communities to restore and improve their aging infrastructure while increasing their capacity to manage wastewater and stormwater to ensure longevity and better safeguard the health and environment of our citizens for years to come.”

Arseneault attended the announcement for federal Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities Minister Dominic LeBlanc.

The provincial government is investing $1,442,552 in the projects while the federal government is providing $2,427,259, and municipal partners are contributing $458,277.

“The local council of Vallée-des-Rivières is grateful to our governments for the water infrastructure investment upgrades, not only for our municipality, but for other municipalities across northern New Brunswick,” said Mayor Lise Anne Roussel. “For Vallée-des-Rivières, it represents an opportunity for both economic and housing development, an important step in building a strong and viable community for our generations of today and tomorrow.”
