Overview

The Firearms Act regulates the organization, construction and use of safe locations where certain classes of firearms may be discharged.

A shooting range means a place that is designed or intended for the safe discharge, on a regular and structured basis, of firearms for the purpose of target practice or target shooting competitions.

Eligibility

To operate a shooting range, the facility must meet specific eligibility criteria, as set out in the Firearms Act (Canada).

Description

Shooting clubs and shooting ranges are regulated under the Firearms Act. Facilities are inspected on a structured basis using a provincial standard to ensure the public's safety.
