Anyone caught driving 80 km/h over the speed limit will have their vehicle impounded for 30 days, be fined $1,000 and lose six points off their licence.

These amendments to the penalties came after consultation with various organizations, groups and departments on how to improve highway safety to better protect residents, police and peace officers.
