FREDERICTON (GNB) – An inmate in the custody of the provincial correctional system has died.

Jason Barnaby-Gloade, 39, an inmate at the Dalhousie Regional Correctional Centre, was found unresponsive in a cell on the afternoon of Saturday, May 28. Staff administered first aid and he was transported to the Campbellton Regional Hospital, where he was admitted. He was pronounced dead Saturday evening.

Barnaby-Gloade was being held on remand awaiting a June 6 court appearance.

This information is being released in accordance with departmental policy.

The matter is being investigated by the RCMP. Coroner Services has also been advised.

A coroner’s inquest into Barnaby-Gloade’s death will be held. Details of the inquest, including the presiding coroner, schedule and location, will be determined after all investigations have been concluded.
