FREDERICTON (GNB) – An inmate in the custody of the provincial correctional system has died.

Jarrett Lorne Lunn, 24, an inmate at the Madawaska Regional Correctional Centre, was found unresponsive on Thursday, March 31. Staff administered first aid and he was transported to the Edmundston Regional Hospital, where he was admitted. He died early this morning.

Lunn was being held on remand awaiting a court appearance.

This information is being released in accordance with the department's policy.

This matter is being investigated by the RCMP. Coroner Services has also been advised.

A coroner’s inquest into Lunn’s death will be held. Details of the inquest, including the presiding coroner, schedule and location, will be determined after all investigations have been concluded.
