FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers between the ages of five and 11 are now eligible to receive their first booster dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Parents are encouraged to book an appointment for children in this age group to help slow the spread of the virus and reduce severe disease in those at risk.

Booster doses are available to everyone five and older, as long as five months have passed since their previous dose or the date of COVID-19 infection (whichever is more recent) before getting their booster dose.

“Vaccines have been proven to provide protection against serious illnesses or hospitalization from COVID-19,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health. “I urge all those who are eligible to be vaccinated to book an appointment online, and those under the age of 16 to have a parent or guardian book an appointment.”

More information about booking a vaccination is available online or by calling 1-833-437-1424.
