FREDERICTON – The Department of Energy and Resource Development has been renamed the Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development.

“This is something I have been talking about for a while and a change our major stakeholders have overwhelmingly supported,” said Natural Resources and Energy Development Minister Mike Holland. “This name change better reflects the important work the department does to manage, promote and grow our wildlife and natural resource sectors in addition to our energy sector.”

Day-to-day operations and the mandate of the department will not change.

The new name is effective immediately.
