FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government announced today that the NB Liquor subsidiary, that will be created to operate recreational cannabis retail operations in New Brunswick, will be called Cannabis NB.
“Your government recognizes that the retail model will play a significant role as we enter this new market and I am pleased to provide New Brunswickers with an update,” said Finance Minister Cathy Rogers. “Cannabis NB will help us achieve the goals of the legislative framework your government has introduced.”
The provincial government has introduced a legislative framework focused on ensuring public health and safety is respected by having strong regulations for production, distribution, and sale of cannabis while making sure awareness programs are in place.
“The government is working diligently as we prepare for the federal government to legalize recreational cannabis in July 2018,” said Rogers.
A trademark application has been filed for the Cannabis NB name.
